tinycartridge: “8-Bit Bikini” by Glen Brogan (click for a larger image). Anyone who has any familiarity with Metroid will recognize this scene as the ending screen players receive after completing the game within a certain time limit. My favorite detail in this artwork has nothing to do with the heroine or her swimsuit; it’s the floating 3D text above her, which I feel is the essential feature that conveys the piece’s idea of an illustrated Samus dropped into an 8-bit game. The suggestion that her suit’s shoulder spheres are designed to shelter her hair is kind of funny, too.
