Did you know the NES’s initial 1995 test launch in New York was considered a failure? Shortly after its debut, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, “Nintendo, a Japanese company that attempted to introduce a new video-game machine over Christmas, failed miserably, retailers say.”
It’s a good thing Nintendo went ahead with a wider NES release despite that problematic test launch!
